Not your ordinary time management book

Quite simply this book could change your life. The author describes a process that I've only just realized myself - I wish it hadn't taken me decades to work it out. It is the concept that we have a personal focusing level - it may be ten minutes at a time, or in my case it varies by day - sometimes I do five minutes, sometimes, fifteen. Finding that sweet spot is important because beyond that we find ourselves hitting diseconomies of scale when it comes to our productivity. He had other great ideas but this was the one that smacked me between the eyes.

The author goes into some detail to support his ideas and I appreciated this - not something you usually get from a small Kindle book. And if you're overloaded with commitments (and who isn't) and finding yourself becoming less and less productive, I heartily recommend this book and suggest you read it.

Contains Truths I Had Not Found in Other Books of its Kind

I gave Michal Stawicki's book five stars because it accomplished its goal: to help me master my time in ten-minute chunks.

SO many self-help and time management books cover the same tips over and over... and that's to be expected because truth is truth. There are only so many universal truths that apply to everyone.

But Michal's book was different. He challenged some of the parroted techniques and praised others, but mainly encouraged me to find my OWN methods for making the most of my time.

My takeaways were numerous but the most valuable to me was the idea of committing to establishing ONE ten-minute daily habit at a time, then leveraging my willpower by starting another when the first habit becomes so entrenched that it doesn't need "willpower" to reinforce it.

Also, the "grains of sand" idea was magnificent; a prepared list of activities that support one's life mission but can be accomplished in ten minutes or less. I've already begun to salt and pepper ten-minute "productivity moments" into my day, starting with Michal's and my shared love of pushups.

Give this book a read if you are like me; an intellectual suffering from information overload. Michal Sta will help you focus. Instead of killing time you'll work it to death :-)

More than time management

The headline might be all about mastering your time, but this book is really all about mastering your mindset in very specific ways.

I totally identified with the author - juggling several different roles we play in our lives can become not just a logistics nightmare, but a way to distract us from what's truly important.

I liked the glimpses we got into Michal's life - it anchored the tips in the book for me, as did the often provocative questions that pepper the book.

Great read.

This was a great book to learn from. Pretty simple and to the point to what the author was trying to tell the reader. Not like some books with so much wording to get the point across when they can say it in short and simple words like this book. Would recommend for anybody to learn about the healthcare field.

I can relate. I forgived someone

Loved It! We're all human. We all make mistakes. As long as we learn from them and don't relive them. I feel once our heart is broken we are so quick to move on and try to heal the pain but in reality we need to heal ourselves before jumping into another relationship. I learned that the hard way.

The importance of being earnest.

Almost every woman secretly wants to know a man who can emote. The kind of guy who isn't afraid to be honest about what he feels, to cry when we touch his heart, to make us laugh at his mistakes because he is so loyal and human. Derrick Jaxn has written a book about such a man and I have to confess the book was not what I was expecting. Mr. Jaxn has a writing style that is easy to absorb as well as be amused by. His protagonist's often flawed but common sense approach to his life experiences are believable and understandable however wrong or misguided they are. His enthusiastic and humorous approach endears us to him. He manages to make us care deeply about him even when we know he is in for a world of pain whether or not it's well deserved. The other characters in the story didn't resonate with me in the same way our hero did. There was often a one-dimensional quality to the actions of some key characters that made me want to understand them better. At times that lack of connection I felt with a supporting character's motivations or story made the book lag for me a bit in a few places. The ending is open-ended but in the best possible way. I'm interested in what's next for Shawn but whatever it is I'm sure it will be a heartfelt journey.

Amazing, fun to read, and real.

I actually went to school with Derrick and he asked me to leave a review as a male and of course I obliged. I read this book in a coupe of hours and honestly it packs more true scenarios about trying to become a decent man at Tuskegee University. Like Derrick I grew up in a poor one parent household and I appreciated the shout out as the one white guy on campus lol. The truth of coming up with nothing and not really anyone having your back and the ones that do try and take it back from you, is a normal thing in our community. Likewise, his way of dealing with his first break up and playing the game is exactly how most men deal with the system. They start out young and naïve, get played, then play everyone until that special someone comes along. It was just a part of growing up. The relationship problems and how he kept reemphasizing putting in work to show appreciation is absolutely relevant. Just the culmination of everything he experienced brought me back to our college days and how the things that young men go through in the stages of becoming a man mentally, physically, and emotionally really gave me a new perspective. I've recommended this book to all of my friends and even random people I see just reading things. It's a fun and easy read and I can't truly say if it's entirely true or true enough because a lot of the scenarios sound familiar haha. Just ask the author. God Bless.
