Simply Put: ESSENTIAL !!

I write essential because I mean it. To start: A foreword from Mark Lewisohn!! But John Winn deserves it and Lewisohn hits the nail on the head in the opening pages. This book is a wonderfully massive undertaking detailing the fascinating story behind each and every television, radio appearance, press conference, studio recording etc (and where you can find them!). I am biased because i'm a huge Beatles fan, but to me it is still a wonder after reading so many books on or about The Beatles that you can be knocked off your feet by a new book that is as fun, fascinating, and historically accurate as one could imagine. In my opinion there are essential Beatles books you should own if you're a hard core fan or casual fan alike:

The Beatles Anthology, by The Beatles
Shout, by Phillip Norman
Many Years From Now, by Barry Miles
The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions, by Mark Lewisohn
and...Way Beyond Compare, by John Winn

Absolutely Essential to Understanding The Beatles

There are so many Beatles books out there. Yet there are very few authors who can chronicle the band's recording history with accuracy, authority and style. Mark Lewisohn certainly can. John Winn demonstrates once again that he can as well. Winn earned the absolute trust of the international cadre of rabid Beatles enthusiasts with his first release of Way Beyond Compare. This second edition includes more than a hundred new entries that detail The Beatles' recordings, interviews, concerts, and appearances. His book captures and skillfully details the entire known visual and audio record of the band through 1965. Winn also identifies the release histories and best sources for all these sound recordings and videos. His work deserves a broader audience. Buy it for yourself or give it to the Beatles lovers you know.

"The Way Beyond Compare" is the definitive, most accurate, thorough, helpful, and authoritative document study of The Beatles' complete output, including official releases, outtakes, live performances, broadcasts, compositional drafts and much more.
It is also the ONLY credible source on spoken-word recordings such as press conferences, interviews, skits and unscripted banter.
John Winn's two-volume set (the other being "That Magic Feeling") is indispensible for any collector of Beatle recordings.
It is highly recommended for anyone wishing to learn more about what the Beatles played, sang and said, and the release history footnotes tells where the material first appeared.
The book is also very entertaining and easily read, and it is as important as books like "The Complete Beatles Chronicle" and "The Beatles Recording Sessions" by Mark Lewisohn.
If you're into collecting Beatles this is a book you cannot do without!

As the author states in the preface that he "did toy with the idea of calling it 'Every Engineer's SECOND Book of Functional Safety". This book does assume a working knowledge of the functional safety standards. With that in mind, it's a very good book.

Unfinished and poorly assembled

Perhaps I set my expectations too high, but this journal is an all-around disappointment. The premise is simple: gather up seventeen anthropomorphic cartoonists and artists, ask them to submit any work they've been doing, and regardless of content compile it into an 8x10" 100-page book. When the illustrations themselves exceed low, sketchy quality, the paper and ink this journal is printed with will regardlessly make everything seem amateurishly fashioned. Nothing about these pictures is unifying in theme or style except the presence of Furries. The journal contains comics, artwork, and graphic short stories usually taking on fantasy or sci-fi themes. The comics are unerringly awful. A repetitive concept in many illustrations is the reoccurrence of autobiographical, furry depictions of the cartoonists themselves. Two artists whose work greatly exceeds the talents of other contributors are Ronald Van Bokhoven - a fine illustrator from the Netherlands - and Joseph Ny - whose computer-generated designs include literal she-wolves of the SS, as well as other Eastern European and Asiatic themes. These men alone buoy my overall opinion of the journal, but I certainly don't advise purchasing this book at full price.

Another great collection of furry drawings

I bought the 4th addition a while ago and decided i wanted to get more, while this may not be as yiffy as the 4th issue I still really like it. Put together very well and lots of cool pictures and even a few hot ones. Going to buy 1st issue next (since 2nd is a bit more expensive on here for some reason)

Step into your personal power!

I really appreciate this book being written. It is a great reminder that we have the capability of doing so much as human beings. I always wondered what set me apart from a lot of the people that I looked up to. I began to focus on their skill sets and how they practiced at their art for many hours. So I would try to work my hardest and use my willpower to get me to the next level, but something always held me back. I always would hit a wall and just stop. I couldn't understand why I felt like I had such motivation and drive, and then, feel like it just wasn't going to work out. So that's when I began to look at their mindsets. This was the key I needed to unlock my true potential. Jonathan's book is a great way to upgrade your mindset and remind yourself that you are one amazing person that is capable of doing so much!

He has such a great way with words and uses great examples that I can relate to. He doesn't try to overwhelm the reader with too many big words. He covers so many great topics that bring a lot of awareness to limitations we put on ourselves that I didn't think about before. I never realize how much my mindset determines my beliefs and what I am capable of doing. Honestly, I am kinda shocked at all of the limiting beliefs and patterns I have now or had in the past. At first, I took it as some sort of shame or guilt, but it really was an absolute blessing. How can you change something if you don't know what you are trying to change? Jonathan does a great job helping you uncover limiting beliefs and patterns, and then tells you how to shift your mindset to regain your personal power.

I appreciate and respect him for his vulnerability he showed while writing this book. It is easier for me to allow myself to be more vulnerable and honest with myself. I hope that everyone is blessed with wisdom and peace after reading this book. I would love to see another book written by this brilliant guy.

Not a bad book. An interesting/speculative view of psychology and motivation. Quite a bit of God-talk, if you're into that kind of thing. I question the legitimacy of the 20+ 5-star reviews. Everyone thinks the book is 5-stars? Hmm

The author admits he isn't especially successful. It seems a bit like taking stock tips from a homeless man...... Have to give him points for honesty though.

Great Read

This book ultimately opened my mind to becoming a more giving and understanding person. I now communicate honestly, openly and with confidence. After reading this I began to realize where most of my 'limiting beliefs' stem from and how they were holding me back from accomplishing my hopes and dreams of a successful life. It gave me the tools to question my negativity instead of letting it control my actions and most importantly, my life. I really hope you pick it up and receive the same results.

Love this book! It's a great science book about screws and yet very appropriate for a four year old. We coupled it with a tool set for him. He loved having it read to him.

Twist, Dig, and Drill: A Book About Srews

I love this book and the others in the set! I teach 2nd Grade Science and used this set while teaching simple machines. The books are easy to understand, list many examples of the simple machine being discussed, and are colorful and inviting. The fact that it lists every day items that children are familiar with really helps them to better understand the simple machine it is describing. The end of each book includes an activity to explain how the simple machine is used, fun facts about that simple machine, and a glossary. Each book also includes a list of related books and web sites to continue the study and increase the curiosity of the simple machine being discussed. I highly recommend them all!
