Amazing introduction to middle earth role-playing

This was one of the first role playing games I ever played, and it's still one of my favorites. The artwork and descriptions are outstanding, and though it is not slavishly adherent to LotR "canon" I agree that it reflects Tolkien's vision. It reminds me a lot of the Hobbit!

Even though the "extensive research" put into this game is not as detailed as I would have liked, and many Tolkien enthusiasts would call this a sacriligeous butchering of Middle Earth, I enjoyed it immensely and thought it was true to his vision.

Peace and Joy

Curtiss Ann Matlock has delivered a beautiful and warm Christmas story just in time for our own Christmas Holidays. Her way with words draws you right into the story and makes the reader feel as if they are right there and a part of the work, the heartache and the love on the Texas ranch. Olivia is a woman with a believable spark. I did not want to see this story end. I hope that in time the author will write a sequel to this beautiful romance.

Perfect Pick-Me-Up

Curtiss Ann Matlock moves away from her beloved city of Valentine and back in time to the years just following the American Civil War. Her heroine, Olivia, is, like all of her other female leads: a strong, stubborn woman who has suffered loss and pain but refuses to give up her will to survive. She brings her two young sons, Will and Henry, with her on an arduous journey from North Carolina to Texas, where she plans to marry John Carter, a man she's only seen a few times. Olivia has big hopes for their future in this stark, dry land - hopes that are dashed suddenly when she learns of John's untimely death from his friend and partner, Monroe Lockett. With barely enough money to make the return trip to North Carolina and the rigid home she left there, Olivia persuades Mr. Lockett to allow her and the boys to stay with him until the next stagecoach arrives. Far away from civilization, tucked into the small cabin built by her late fiance and furnished by the silent man who has grudgingly given her a temporary home, Olivia finds herself faced with loneliness, despair and, surprisingly, a growing longing for her host when she realizes that his stoic calm and brooding eyes hide an upright, passionate soul that calls out to the woman in her like no man ever has. Seemingly oblivious to her feelings, Monroe remains focused on his struggling ranch and on protecting his herd - and himself - from those who wish them harm. Christmas promises to be one of heartache and possible disaster, a grim prequel to the rest of Olivia's life. Though I missed the familiar characters and setting of Curtiss Ann's Valentine books, this book was just what I needed today. Down-home talking, simple truths and a comforting setting made this book the perfect one to enjoy snuggled on the couch in my warm nest with a cup of coffee at my side. Thank you, Curtiss Ann, for lifting my spirits as you always do.

Great Book!

This textbook worked very well for class. There were no pages missing and it helped me to a good grade. I recommend this textbook to anyone taking this course, or just looking to learn more.

Does the job

I purchased this as a required textbook for a Strategic Marketing course. In that regards it's perfect in that I have assigned readings from it, each week. It is not at all inspiring, dry in places, and some of the examples could be updated. For instance, their example regarding Apple is a great description of the company's brand associations and positioning of 10 years ago (the book still refers to them as Apple Computer) and makes no mention of any of the brand development that firm has undergone since. That said, it get's the concepts across, but I think if it hadn't been written a as a college textbook (in accocordance with a textbook publisher's business model) the information could have been transferred more effectively and inspiringly - in probably half to two thirds of the pages. I think the idea is if it weighs more, it must be worth more.

As I said, it does the job. The writing is easy to understand. I'm learning things from it. I will not be keeping it past the end of semester.

Through Amazon, I purchased it for half the price it was selling for at the University Co-op.

I recommend this book if you want to learn about branding. It is easy to read and uses great real world examples to explain more complex concepts.
